Identifying soldiers
There's been quite a bit of coverage in the Manx press this week on the Manx Aviation and Military Museums new appeal. It's all about a collection of 38 photographs of of Manx soldiers from the First World War. They are incredibly striking images of young men from all branches of the army and as yet the identities of almost all of the men are unknown. Many of the images are staged with props and backdrops and may well have been taken to send to family and loved ones.
The museum are trying to identify the soldiers in time for their new First World War exhibition opening this summer. Can you help them?
If you think you can or would just like to have a look at this fantastic collection, the photographs are currently on display at the museum at Ronaldsway airport. You can also view them on their Facebook page.
If you recognise any of the men you can contact the museum on 01904 822695 or 01904 454496.
The museum is open from 10am to 4pm at weekends. After 28 May 2016 it will be open every day throughout the summer.
